| Description | 2 stoneware flagons, cream amd tan glazed surface, handles and cork stoppers, One jar, unmarked, has hole for tap and no stopper. The other is inscribed W D Norton Spirit Merchant Bishops Castle; stamped on bottom C and J R Price manufacturers Bristol. WD Norton, son of Samuel Norton Sadler/ Farmer and brother in law to HA Jones. (See Item 1814.) He is recorded in Welshpool in 1841 as apprentice mason, in 1851 aged 26 as a Spirit Merchant, married in 1853 and after a short parnership with HA Jones dissolved in 1853, by 1861 is in Wistanstow 37 with Wife Sarah 33 as Auctioneers Clerk. Died in 1863. |
